Covid-19 (Coronavirus) Update

The Vista Jr. Eagle Football and Cheer program is committed to the health and safety of our athletes and families. Our program is continuously monitoring the ongoing COVID-19 coronavirus outbreak according to the guidelines and recommendations of the CDC (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention).  We are also monitoring actions taken by the City of Folsom and Sacramento County to protect our community and are communicating with the other youth sports organizations in the region to understand measures they plan to take. This page will be used to post updates on impacts of the pandemic to the Vista Jr. Eagles program.

April 20 Update: Working in coordination with Sacramento Youth Football, the VJE Board is planning for a fall season for both football and cheer. Specific schedules for both SYF and VJE are in the works and are being developed in full consideration of current public health directives. We will provide updates on cheer tryouts and football skills sessions and camps as details are solidified.

March 30 Update: According to the recent communications from the FCUSD on March 27th, as an ongoing proactive measure to slow the spread of COVID-19, all Sacramento County school districts are extending school closures through May 1, 2020. At this time, the VJE Cheer Clinic that was scheduled for the week after spring break on Tuesday, April 14 thru Friday, April 18 will be postponed to a later date.

The VJE Program still plans to have a 2020 Cheer season, but it will be different as a result of COVID-19. We are keeping the the Cheer clinic registration open until next Monday, April 13th. This information is important for us to understand how we approach and design the upcoming season, along with giving us insight to participant number for each of the teams. After Monday, April 13th, 2020, the VJE Cheer program will close registration for the 2020 season.

March 14 Update: According to a report from the Folsom-Cordova Unified School District March 12, 2020, there are no confirmed staff or student cases of COVID-19 in any Folsom Cordova school. To help limit the spread of the virus in the community, all Sacramento County schools will remain closed for up to three weeks starting Monday, March 16, 2020. School districts in Placer and El Dorado Counties are taking similar measures. On March 13, the City of Folsom also announced cancellations and closures of come City programs through March 31, with closures of some City youth programs through April 13. At this time, the upcoming VJE Cheer Clinic that is scheduled for the week after spring break on Tuesday, April 14 thru Friday, April 18 will continue as scheduled. We recognize that we are all receiving updates by the hour - so changes caoccur at any time. We will notify you as updates occur.
